Jesus said, "Whoever welcomes you, welcomes Me, and whoever welcomes Me welcomes the One who sent Me" (Mt.10:40).
A willingness to serve God in the capacity of an usher reflects your commitment to Christ. Your willingness to be there every Friday, arrive on time, and to be a friendly and welcoming presence to those coming to St. Francis of Assisi also shows a commitment to our Parish. Assuring a welcoming presence, you enhance the beauty of the Liturgy and become an instrument through whom God may be present to those in worship. It is an awesome privilege not only to welcome people to the church, but being for others a representative of a welcoming and gracious God.
Our ushers assist at the 9:00 Catechism Mass. The ushers' first priority is for the catechism children and their seating. After that, since the Mass is usually quite full, the ushers help those who are arriving before and during the Mass to find seats in the nave of the church and in the parish hall.
Ushers are expected to be friendly, helpful, and good examples of what a Christian is. A warm smile, a willingness to help, and patience are definitely helpful.
